When was the church built? The cornerstone of St. John’s Church was laid in 1869, and the building was finished and consecrated in 1871.  The rectory was built in 1877, and the parish hall in 1907. What outreach activities can be found at St. John’s?  Members of St. John’s volunteer at CentreCrest; the FaithCentre; in the Community Lunch Kitchen; and at the Pet Food Bank at St. Andrew’s in State College. Additionally, St. John’s participates in, and financially supports, the CROP Walk; collects goods for the Shippensburg Home; raises funds for our companion parish, Santo Andre, in Campinas, Brazil; and holds food drives for the FaithCentre several times each year. What ministries can people join at St. John’s? Ministries at St. John’s are geared toward hospitality and worship.  Additional altar servers, altar guild members, and lay readers are always welcome.  New greeters and coffee hour hosts are also encouraged. What opportunities for Christian Education are there at St. John’s? Sunday school for younger children (ages 4-8) meets most Sundays from September to June.  Adult education opportunities vary by season:  sometimes there is a Bible study, or a book club, or a prayer breakfast, or a Lent or Advent series, or a Sunday morning forum.  Watch the newsletter and the parish notices for the current offering.
